hi cant you ask your local vet ? im just starting dog obedence , if it is playing up ask vet for pain killer and maybe rest for a few weeks? i would keep walks light , no hard traing and would not aks to much of him eg sit drop. let him be the judge of what he can do for a few weeks , but see ya vet.

There is going to be pain regardless but timing is key. Provide you've been given the ok to get him back on his feet and start exercising again I would suggest before starting get a low dose anti inflammatory or doggy aspirin 20 minutes before and get him on something that can take a little bit of the weight off until its strength is back up. A treadmill or pool, lake, river, etc. They help to provide a lower impact but still get the heart rate up. I hope this helps.

thank he is doing alot better but is still limping.. he has lost alot of wieght so i think that has helped alot

I don't want to push a product too much but, a Ruffwear Master Dog Harness seems like another possible idea... I use it for a 3 legged dog I walk but it can give you some control with taking some of the weight off. Depending on how big or tall you are you could use a hard rubber bungee or rubber tubing looped through the handle to accommodate you...
mj
i dont believe in using harneses it gives the dog 2 much control of the walk or the sichawation

However, this isn't your typical harness. If you see the handle grip you can notice that it's designed for special situations. Like I mentioned before I don't promote products if I can help it. In fact for my 80 pound AB I use a 2 foot bungee cord with carbiners on each end I found in the automotive section at a Walmart, lol! It works great and I can sometimes hook it to my belt loop and walk hands free... Sometimes, lol!
mj
so do u have any other pets
mj
ya with both dogs i can drop the leash and they will follow.. most of the time... lol

I haven't had Bella fixed and I am contemplating breeding her one time with an English Mastiff so I can give her (and me) an American Bandogge mix for a playmate and possibly look into training him/her for the dog pulling sport but I'm scared to death for the safety of my Bella. I can always keep her healthy and fix her and rescue another bully for her too... I'm torn but don't have to make a decision any time soon. I live in an apt that's next to a park so space is a factor too.... I should probably wait for any addition until I get back into a house... I probably wouldn't want to let any puppies go anyway... lol!
mj
lol ya... i would just adopt caz there are so many dogs in this world that dont have homes..
mj
ok well i have 2 go now.. it was nice 2 talk 2 u... :) bey
