Ringing the dinner bell...

Years ago, a friend of mine had an Oscar who had grown to be a comfortable, solitary fit in a 50 gallon tank. You can imagine how big he was.

This fellow used to bang the metal aquarium lid when he got hungry.

Is this unusual behavior or is it to be expected with something this big?
