This is a tough one because there are no clear answers. I am having trouble with my bluetic/spaniel mix dog. She does not like my other female dog and picks on her. She only does it when we are around though. If left alone they will lay side by side but if any of us are loving on Lilly, she postures, growls and sometimes attacks. If Lilly plays with the two guys, Abby will jump in the middle and try to stop it. This behavior has got to stop because Lilly has had enough and is starting to attack first. Lilly is twice Abbys size and will kill her if we don't step in and break it up. We don't have any issues when it comes to us. She is submissive and well behaved. I have talked to our vet and she wants to put Abby on prozac but I want to see what else I can try first. I have started using a baby gate to keep them apart. We changed the order that we take them outside. My daughter takes her for long walks to tire her out.

Any other ideas would be great.

hi shamrock abby sounds as though she is trying to gain her dominance especially causeshe isnot the only female dog- separating the girls is only making the situation worse because then abby will feel like she is bieng left out of things and therefor dominate more. what we do when one of our pits tries to be too bossy is grab her with your hand on the side of her neck as if it were her canine mother and without using her nam e just say NO and correct her every single time she does it.that is what the leader in a pack will do without the no-haha. also grab both dogs and let lily smell abby's rear end because thats a sign of dom inance and we dont want it to be abby doing the butt sniffing!!! another thing - take your dogs walking together likeas if it were a pack walking together, and make sure the dogs are not walking infront of you because at the end of the day all your dogs are below you and you are the leader of the pack.ps; when you let lily sniff abby from behind, if either dog shows a hint of aggression you MUST correct it straight away. good luck

Thanks. I didn't realize keeping them apart was making it worse. I will give it a try because I don't believe putting my dog on drugs is the answer. Abby walks good though. We have always made our dogs walk behind us. But my daughter has not taken them both for the daily walk together.

because walking the dogs together helps them build a better relationship l had an ex fighting pit how just wanted to kill evething he cam across so what l did now just rem ber when mdoing anything with a dog or anmail you have to be calm. What l did got my stable dog in my pack to sniff him and than when he went to go for him l correted stright away now this took me a couple of days with the dog and now he is one of my loveing pets here.
another thing about walking them side buy side they can build abetter as well

Time is something I am willing to give them. We adopted Abby in Aug. 07 to replace Bonnie who was killed and Lilly's best friend. From the day we got her she has never warmed up to Lilly. Lilly has tried to play with her but it just never happened. I have been reading but I could never find the answer to my perticular problem. I believe that all dogs can be trained but she has stumped me. My husband and I love her and want her to be happy here, with us, for the rest of her life, but were talking about finding her a home where she was the only dog.
