Mommy wanted me to remind folks of the importance of frequent water changes in fish tanks. She has a 50% weekly water change set up for her fresh water tanks. Salt is different so that will be discussed in another post. There are many ways and opinions on the subject but we like to keep our fish used to the local water so the large change works for us. We would like to keep this simple so will leave out the chemistry lesson. Fresh water is a must for the fish to grow to their potential and to have a long life. Water changes also remove the waste left behind from the natural breakdown of organic's. Think about it this way. Would you like to live in a room where you could not flush the toilet? I don't think any of us would so water changes are a must. We don't have any tanks that have specific water chemistry needs so the only thing added to the water is a dechlor product. She uses a hose that hooks up to the sink so she does not have to use any buckets. This makes it so easy to do and mommy recomends it to any one with a large tank. Water changes are also a great way to make sure that everything is in place in the tank. Mommy has eel's and they like to dig up the plants so during the water changes she puts them back in there place. Do a water change today. Your fish will thank you for it! Untill next time.....Buck
