Who takes care of your pets?

When my parents were alive I would drop my dogs off there,and have a friend keep an eye on the cats. But now I have a friend stay with them while I am gone. I just can't do the kennel thing,not just because of the cost but also because there are many untrusting kennels in my area.

luckily, we never need a pet sitter.
our pets right now include a hamster and some fish.
We could easily go on a 2-3 day trip without having to worry about the pets.

I am very, very selective about who takes cares of my dogs. They were beautiful animals and everyone offered to take care of them for us. But, I found that most people would just neglect them all day except for a couple of feedings and a walk at some point during the day. I ended up putting them in a kennel where they were in a yard with other dogs all day. We did that a couple of times. It was pricey but, we worked kennel fees into our budget so we always had money when it came time to go somewhere.
My brother and sis-in-law were also great when they could. Although they let our dogs do everything we didn't -- beg, go on furniture... They always came home with such bad habits!

There is always someone left in the house so that means that we don't have to take the pets anywhere. But in cases that we all go for a vacation, we let someone come over and take care of them.

We've used a kennel before, but that was years ago. Luckily someone is almost always here.

Before my parents had us all they did a lot of traveling. Now they don't. Well they don't go anywhere over the weekend together. Daddy has conventions to go to and mommy flys all over to see bubby who is in the navy. If they were to go someplace together they would have a friend stay at the house and take care of us. They just have not done it yet.

When we go somewhere we usually have a friend come in and check on our dog. They feed her and give her exercise.
