Boston Terrier Dogs and Puppies

Appearance

Boston Terriers are typically compactly built, small, well proportioned dogs with short tails, erect ears, and a short muzzle. The Bostons have a square face and can weight between 10 to 25 lbs, however typically weigh around 15 lbs. Additionally, Boston Terriers generally stand 15-17 inches tall at the withers.

Temperament

Originally bred for fighting, Boston Terriers were ultimately down bred for companionship. The moder Boston Terrier is generally alert, gentle, expressive and well mannered. Many Boston Terriers still retain the vivacious attitude of a typical terrier. Boston Terrier however is somewhat of a misnomer however because the American Kennel Club does not consider them to be terriers, but they are considered a part of the non-sporting group. The Boston Terrier was originally cross bred between a Bulldog and the now extinct White English Terrier.
