Bull Terrier Dogs and Puppies

Appearance

Bull Terriers are muscular, thick-set dogs with a dense, short coat. Acceptable colors of the dog are white or any other color with white markings, however blue and liver colors are undesirable.

The Bull Terrier is easily recognized by its head, which is described as 'egg shaped' when viewed directly on. Additionally the head is flat top with a Roman muzzle that evenly slopes down to the end of the nose. The dark, small triangular eyes are small and closely set. The body of the Terrier is round and full, with muscular and robust shoulders supporting a strong frame. The average height of the dog is 16-22 inches (40-56 cm.) and the average weight of the dog is 35-60 pounds (15-36 kg.) The triangular eyes found in the Bull Terrier are unique.

Temperament

Bull Terriers are known as outgoing and friendly dogs, and even have a bit of a silly attitude to them at times. Their intelligence matches their physical strength and therefore their mind and bodies should be kept active. The dogs can be stubborn or obstinate and are not the ideal dogs for a first time owner. As a breed of dogs, they are generally they are usually quite placid. The Bull Terrier loves the affection of human company and companionship. Bull Terriers are great with children and can take a high amount of abuse from a child because of their higher tolerance. They are alos very protective of children and make for good guard dogs. Younger children however can be inadvertently hurt from these strong dogs.
