English Foxhound Dogs and Puppies

Appearance

The English Foxhound's average size is about 21-25 inches tall to the withers, and the English Foxhound weighs anywhere from between 65-75 pounds, however some dogs could be larger, with some males weighing over 100 pounds. The English Foxhound's muzzle is long, skull is wide and eyes are wide on the head. The legs of the English Foxhound is straight boned, muscular and the paws are rounded.

Temperament

The English Foxhound from its original breed was a pack hound therefore it socializes very well with other dogs and enjoys human interaction. The dog also gets along very well with children, other pets and is a social, gentle and tolerant breed of dog. The English Foxhound is a very active dog and enjoys playing and hunting. The dog is notably slower than the American Foxhound, however will run all day with small breaks.

The dog needs a lot of exercise and is a very energetic breed. It needs some good area to run and if confined it can be destructive. An apartment setting is not the best environment for the dog.

Health and lifespan

The dog has very few health issues. sometimes renal disease, chronic hip cysplasia and epilepsy, however these are common among other dogs. The dog lives between 10-13 years.
