The dog is notably slower than the American Foxhound, however will run all day with small breaks.
The dog needs a lot of exercise and is a very energetic breed. It needs some good area to run and if confined it can be destructive. An apartment setting is not the best environment for the dog.
The dog has very few health issues. sometimes renal disease, chronic hip cysplasia and epilepsy, however these are common among other dogs. The dog lives between 10-13 years.
