Characteristics

A show quality Persian cat has short legs, an extremely thick long coat, a wide head with the ears set far apart, an extremely foreshortened muzzle and large eyes. Persian cats typically have any markings or color including tortoiseshell, blue, tabby and pointed.

Temperament and Care

The Persian Cats fur is very long and dense, therefore the cat is not able to maintain it and needs regular grooming. To keep the fur in its best condition, the cat must be bathed regularly, dried carefully and have their coat brushed thoroughly every day. The Persian cats eyes must also need to be checked often because it has trouble keeping them clean.

The Persian Cat requires more maintenance than most cats and therefore is not an entry level cat. The cat can be active, however is not overly active and makes a great house cat with a unique and regal look. The cat usually lives between 10-18 years.
