Siberian Cats and Kittens

Starting in 2006, the Siberian cat was allowed to compete in the CFA Championship. There are a number of things which make these cats distinct, and one is their unusual jumping ability. Because this cat has a build which is both strong and powerful, it can jump much higher than other cat breeds. The hindquarters of these cats are well developed, and their stomachs are quite large. The Siberian cat will generally weigh between 15 and 20 pounds for males, and females can weigh between 10 and 15 pounds.

Appearance

While the Siberian Cat is shorter than the Norwegian Forest Cat, they are stockier. However, the weight of these two breed is about the same. Another thing which makes the Siberian Cat distinct is that it can take as long as five years for it to reach its maximum weight. When it comes to personality, the Siberian cat is similar to a dog. It is highly intelligent, and it is known for being both loyal and affectionate to its owners. In addition to this, the cat is also playful. As far as fur is concerned, the Siberian Cat is believed to be over 90 percent hypoallergenic. While not much research has been conducted on the fur, all the evidence shows that the fur is textured, medium in length, and tabby patterned.

The fur of the Siberian Cat is known for being plush. When it comes to fur color, virtually anything is allowed. The good thing about the fur of these cats is that despite its length, it doesn't usually become matted, so this means that the cat doesn't require a large amount of maintenance. The Siberian cat is also known for having large litters, and a typical litter can have as many as five kittens. The breed is quite new to the United States, and was first introduced in 1990. However, the breed has existed in Russia for centuries, and can be seen in old paintings there. This makes the Siberian Cat distinct from newer breeds that are a result of selective breeding.

Popularity

Over the last few years, the Siberian cat has exploded in popularity around the world. While the standards for this breed are quite flexible, the typical Siberian cat will be medium or large, and they will also be strong. It takes the cat about five years to become fully mature, and the females will almost always weigh less than males. The cats are quite agile, and the cat has well developed muscles. The back will be a bit lower in front than in the hind area, and the torso of these cats will be shaped like a barrel. Once the hind legs are straightened, they will generally be longer than the front legs. The cat will also have paws which are large and very strong, and the appearance of these cats should display strength and majesty.
