When it comes to skin texture, the Sphynx Cat should have a chamois texture. It may have a small amount of soft down, which will not be very visible to the eye, or even the touch. The only places on the body where hair is allowed is the tail, feet, ears, and muzzle, and only short fine hair can be present. The hair is allowed to be broken, and it can also be whole. In some cases, the hair may be completely absent.
One thing that many people notice is that the Sphynx Cat is quite warm when touched. The reason for this is because of the lack of hair. The cat will generally have both eyebrows and whiskers. The skin color of this cat is also a reflection of what its coat would be if it were allowed to grow out. Even though the Sphynx Cat doesn't have a coat, it is not without the standard marking patterns that are common among cat breeds. Another thing which makes this cat distinct, other than its rarity and appearance, is its personality. The Sphynx Cat can be extroverted, intelligent, and affectionate all at the same time.
Because it lacks fur, the Sphynx Cat is popular among people who normally are allergic to cats. Some believe that the proteins present in cat saliva may play a role why some people are allergic to them. Despite this, because allergies are not the same between any two people, the Sphynx Cat may still cause allergic reactions in some. Even those this breed doesn't have much fur, one thing which I must emphasize is that they are not free of maintenance. Because they don't have much hair, this means that they have a larger amount of body oil. This means that they would need to be bathed quite frequently.
In addition to this, owners need to take care when exposing the cat to sunlight, because the Sphynx Cat can develop sunburn. In most cases, it is best never to leave these cats outside unattended, because they are limited when it comes to being able to conserve their body heat, especially in frigid environments. In addition to this, the curious nature of these cats can often cause them to end up in bad situations. Even though these cats lack fur, they have a body frame which is quite sturdy and heavy. In some cases, many of these cats may even grow a pot belly.
While hairless cats have been around for a long time, the Sphynx Cat is a Canadian breed that has been in development since the 1960s. Both the American and European variation of these breed are both a result of genetic mutations. Because of the rarity and unusual appearance of these cats, they have appeared in a number of movies an other forms of media.
