Flowerhorn

Flowerhorn is a very popular fish in many countries in Asia that belongs to the cichlid family and it is known as Luo Han. Duet o many cross breeding in the cichlid family, a wide variety of "patterns" can be found in the Flowerhorn cichlid. The Far East believes that rearing a Flowerhorn brings good luck in one's business and gambling endeavors. The hump in the male species is believed to resemble the Chinese God of Longetivity and hence the bigger the hump, the luckier the owner will become.

Flowerhorn is a hardy and a very aggressive fish and can hardly be kept with other fishes in a aquarium. Introduce it to a pond and it will wipe out all the other fish species in the concerned pond. They can grow up to 16 inches of length! Their bodies are often laced with luminous scales and dark spots and the location and number of the spots on their bodies will determine their fish gradings which can be A, B or C.
